How to Receive The Baptism in the Holy Spirit

This appears to be your first visit to the SLM website -- Welcome! We hope you enjoy your visit!

The Baptism in the Holy Spirit, evidenced initially by the gift of tongues, is a separate and distinct experience to salvation that God offers to all believers. Both salvation and the Baptism in the Holy Spirit, however, are a work of the Holy Spirit. In salvation, the Holy Spirit comes to live within the believer — this is the regenerative work of the Holy Spirit. In the Baptism in the Holy Spirit, the believer is enveloped by and immersed in the Holy Spirit; that is to say, the Holy Spirit comes upon the believer in contrast to into the believer. These facts are clearly supported by Scripture and are exemplified by the experience of Jesus Himself, who is our supreme Model. Read the rest of this entry »

Now I Declare New Things

[2012 Preface:]
Do you resist or receive change? Do you regard change as friend or foe? If you claim to be a true disciple (learner) of Christ Jesus, and are one who resists change and regards it as foe, 2012 is going to be a horrible year for you! 2012 will be a year of significant, substantative, and even paradigmical CHANGE!

Change is inevitable! As someone has said, the only thing that is unchangeable in this life is change itself. Change is a God thing, and therefore change is a GOOD thing! Change is from and of God! Change is God’s Will! Change is an inextricable part of God’s plan for your life!

God Himself never changes (Mal. 3:6), because perfection cannot be improved. But, you are not God, and you are not yet perfect, and you therefore NEED God-inspired change in your life. Change is a part of the process of sanctification. Because you are not now perfect, in order to be sanctified, i.e., made Holy, perfect, you must respond appropriately to the process of change God brings into your life, which means yielding to and assimilating it into your life. Resist God-inspired change, and you are resisting the Holy Spirit, as the Pharisaical traditionalists possessed by religious spirits who murdered Stephen, who He resoundingly rebuked before they killed him by stoning: “You men who are stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears are always resisting the Holy Spirit; you are doing just as your fathers did.” (Acts 7:51)

Keeping tradition for the sake of keeping tradition and thereby refusing change is not something that is either meritorious or Godly. In fact, Jesus said traditionalism INVALIDATES or NULLIFIES the Word of God in the life of the person who rejects the Word of God, which is His Will, in order to keep their religious traditions (Mat. 15:6). You cannot be in the will of God, or even right relationship with God, when you embrace religious traditions that are contrary to the Word of God! In 2012, If you are not willing to change, you will find yourself out of the Will and the purposes of God, which means you will be operating totally outside of His anointing and grace, i.e., Divine enablement to accomplish God’s purposes and plans for your life.

CHANGE is God’s Message for 2012! Throughout the Bible, the number 12 is the number for Divine Government (Authority), Divine Order. God’s Directive for 2012 to all genuine believers, individually and collectively, is centered on ORDER, AUTHORITY, GOVERNMENT! And, since all these things are elements of the Apostolic function, 2012 will also be the year for the genuine establishment of the apostolic office or function. Thus, 2012 will be a year of APOSTOLIC ALIGNMENT. There will be a supernatural unction and enablement for apostolic alignment in 2012 that is unprecedented in substance and outcome. The Former Things Have Come to Pass

(This post is the second part of the series, Now I Declare New Things! )

Isaiah 42:9
Behold, the former things have come to pass,
Now I declare new things;
Before they spring forth I proclaim them to you.

Isaiah 43:18,19
Do not call to mind the former things,
Or ponder things of the past.
Behold, I will do something new,
Now it will spring forth;
Will you not be aware of it?
I will even make a roadway in the wilderness,
Rivers in the desert.

There are two vital truths we need to extract from these passages of Scripture regarding “the former things.” The first and most obvious is that the things that used to be, “the things of the past,” are now completed and are now passed. That is to say, they are history. In speaking of someone who has died, we use the euphemism that they “passed away.” That is precisely how God wants us to regard the modus operandi, or ways of operating or doing things, that are of the past — as “the former things” — particularly at those junctures when He begins announcing, “Now I declare new things! Behold, I will do something new, now it will spring forth!” And this can apply either to individual believers or the collective church. God is at those times acting as a spiritual attending physician, pronouncing “the former things” dead, deceased. Yet, at the same time He is also acting as a spiritual obstetrician, delivering the newborn, “the new thing” that God is birthing, which will replace the former or passe’ thing. The 2008 Election: Democracy or Oligarchy?

Dr. Steven Lambert

Here, one day before perhaps the most important presidential election in the history of this nation, I am painfully aware that this article, if it were to have any impact at all, will be far too little far too late. Unfortunately as well, in terms of the demographics of the readership of this blog, it likely will only amount to “preaching to the choir.” Moreover, I hold no illusions that its message will turn the mind of anyone regarding their vote tomorrow. Despite all this, I am somehow pressed with a patriotic and spiritual duty to write and publish it any way.

Only a year ago, I must confess at the outset, I had basically resigned myself to the premise that in the 2008 election America was going to get what it deserved politically. Considering the precipitous moral and spiritual decline of this nation, and the dizzying speed with which it is taking place, it is easy to arrive at such a conclusion, not from a pessimistic but realistic prospective. Yet, when I mentally scan all that I know regarding the scenario before us, the only thing that gives me a modicum of hope is the Apostle Peter’s resonating descriptor of God the Father, that He is “the God of all grace” (1 Pet. 5:10). As we know, the Gospel of Christ is all about, through and through, the Amazing Grace of God extended to humanity instead of the judgment we so rightly deserve. Read the rest of this entry »

The Role of Fivefold Ministry

Fivefold Ministry is the ongoing surrogate ministry of Christ Himself to the Church—His Betrothed. All legitimate ministry emanates from Jesus Himself and is an extension of His ministry. Unless it emulates His ministry, it’s not legitimate ministry. Jesus’ three-and-a-half-year fleshly ministry is the model for all genuine ministry, and we can see in the Gospel accounts that Jesus functioned in all five of the Fivefold Ministry Offices.

Fivefold Ministry consists of five functions or offices of function: apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor, and teacher. The primary scripture enumerating these offices is verse eleven of Ephesians Four. Relationally these offices are horizontal, non-hierarchical, and non-authoritarian (cf., Mk. 10:35-45; 16:19; Lk. 22:69; Ac. 5:31; 7:55,56; Rom. 8:34; Eph. 1:20; Col. 3:1; Heb. 1:3,13; 8:1; 10:12; 12:2; 1 Pet. 3:22; Rom. 8:29; Heb. 12:23). These terms are not titles implying authority or entitlement of any kind, but rather terms alluding to specific ministerial functions.

The essence and role of the Fivefold Ministry can only be understood in the context of the Church and Christ’s relationship with it. Above all else, the Church is “the Lamb’s Wife” (Rev. 21:9). Presently, in the natural, the Church is the Betrothed of Christ, since the Marriage Supper of the Lamb has not yet occurred. Yet, in the Spirit, wherein God always speaks of those things that are not as though they already were, the Church is now “The Lamb’s Wife.” Read the rest of this entry »

Who Is The Christmas Baby?

nativity2

At this wonderful time of the year that we call “Christmas,” people around the world will be celebrating and commemorating the fact that more than 2,000 years ago a Baby was born in a manger. But for the believer, we know that that Baby was not born to stay a Baby. That Baby was more than a Baby!

Who was that Baby born on Christmas Morn, really? This is the Story of who that Baby was! Read the rest of this entry »

The Mystery of the Kingdom (Part 1)

Mystery of the Kingdom, By Dr. Steven Lambert

God is in the process of purifying His Church toward the end of glorifying the Eternal Bride of Christ, the Lamb’s wife (Rev. 21:9). That is to say, God has already begun to take the Church through a process of purification unto glorification, which shall result ultimately in exaltation of the true Bride of Christ unto the final status and station unto which she is destined.

Every former move of God throughout history shall be eclipsed by what is about to take place as God exalts the Church into “all her glory” (Eph. 5:27). And, this thing shall not be done in a corner (Acts 26:26). The entire world shall be made to witness this spectacular phenomenon — the exaltation of a people, a nation, what is called, “A Holy Nation,” the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing, a mighty throng, clothed in white garments, girded about with the Truth and the golden breastplate of righteousness, having the high-praises of God in their mouths and a two-edged sword in their hands.

While the world, on the other hand, shall be thrust into a chaotic period in which everything that can be shaken, will be, so that in the end all the kingdoms of men shall be toppled.

In the midst of the rubble shall arise another Kingdom — a Kingdom of all majesty and glory — the Kingdom of God. Read the rest of this entry »

Do My Prophets No Harm!

Dr. Steven Lambert

“Do not touch My anointed ones, And do My prophets no harm” (1Ch 16:22; Ps. 105:15).

Though this Divine command is too often abused and misused, God said it twice in His Word, which is special emphasis indicating He certainly meant it! Though, of course, God always says what He means and means what He says! Thus, I would say it would be a good idea for anyone to give heed to that warning. Anytime you think God is leading you to engage in an ad hominem attack of words and/or actions or some sort of an insurrection against a genuinely anointed and appointed man of God, another good idea is to remember the fate of the company of “Korah & Sons,” who participated in a personal attack and insurrection against the man God had chosen and anointed to deliver Israel, Moses, and the principle of unintended consequences! Why Hurt People Hurt People

Dr. Joseph Mattera

There now exists in the mental health realm an entire discipline related to trauma-related disorders and syndromes. Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSD) is perhaps the most known among non-professionals. It was first recognized as an actual mental health syndrome relative to military servicemen serving in combat during the “Vietnam Conflict,” which, incredibly and inscrutably, has never been officially recognized by the United States government as a “war.” The ramifications and tenacles of trauma, mental health scientists and professionals are continuously learning, are extremely far-reaching in the psychological make-up of individuals who suffered from it. Moreover, the numbers and demographics of those afflicted with various forms and degrees of trauma-related mental health problems are staggering and astounding.

The number one result of trauma to the human psyche, simply stated, is an inner “hurt” or “pain.” And the most common result of that hurt or pain is that “hurt people hurt people.” Without a doubt it is true. In fact there are untold myriad of people who’ve suffered from inward hurt their entire lives, some from cradle to coffin, to put it bluntly, who are so used to living with this internalized pain that they never come to a realization that it is there, and that it has had a far-reaching impact upon virtually every aspect of their life, relationships being the most affected aspect. Untold numbers of relationships — marital, familial, business, and every other kind of social relationship there is — have been either negatively impacted or completely destroyed as a result of hidden (occult) hurt. Those who suffer from un-discovered and un-treated hurt usually are the locomotive in a long train of decimated relationships, and as a consequence live a life of continual sadness, sorrow, self-loathing, solitude, and sometimes self-destruction. God’s Perestroika!

Dr. Steven Lambert

The centerpiece of this post is a prophetic message I delivered in December, 1988. The date of the delivery of the message is significant because the message predicted major governmental debacle and dismantling that would be occurring in many nations of the world, beginning with the U.S.S.R., and it was in November, 1989, that East Germany issued a decree for the Berlin Wall dividing free Berlin from Communist Berlin that had stood for 28 years to be opened to allow free ingress and egress between the East and West factions of the city. By the end of 1990 the wall was completely disassembled contemporaneously with the collapse of Communism in Eastern Europe and in U.S.S.R., marking the end of the Cold War era. The historic opening of the Berlin Wall came only a little more than two years after President Ronald Reagan, who I believe was a political prophet anointed and appointed by God, “In a speech at the Brandenburg Gate commemorating the 750th anniversary of Berlin, by the Berlin Wall on June 12, 1987,”1 trumpeted the now infamous divinely-inspired prophetic decree, “Mr. Gorbachev, Tear down this wall!” Read the rest of this entry »

Demigod Leaders

Dr. Joseph Mattera

WARNING! God’s putting His prophetic finger on a major problem plaguing the Church Jesus is building! Celebrity cult-status leaders—who act like spiritual divas and present themselves as demigods, based in arrogance, ascendancy, supremacy, and narcissism that has convinced them they are better than and above everyone else—are on the rise particularly in the American Church.

You’ve seen them…they’re so “important” (in their own minds) that, like “gangsta” subculture “homies” or mob mafiosos, they must be accompanied by an entourage of sycophants and bodyguards wherever they go to enforce their inaccessibility—even to peers, staff, and collegues—and to reinforce their self-proclaimed VIP status and public image. Unaccountable islands to themselves who can’t be bothered with the mere plebian masses. “Wandering stars, for whom the black darkness has been reserved forever,” Jude, inspired by the Spirit, called their ilk. The Generation That Shall Not Pass Away!

Dr. Steven Lambert

The adoption of UN General Assembly Resolution 181 by the narrowest of margins on November 29, 1947 paved the way for the recognition of Israel as a nation by the existing global community of nations, which was followed by the Israeli Declaration of Independence on May 14, 1948, officially declaring the establishment of the new independent national state named ISRAEL.

The reestablishment of Israel was the fulfillment of Jesus’ prophecy concerning the budding FIG TREE (Mat 24:32-37), which is a Biblical symbol of the nation of Israel. Jesus said (v. 33), “When you see all these things, recognize that He is NEAR, RIGHT AT THE DOOR!” And in verse 37, He further clarifies that what He is alluding to is “THE COMING OF THE SON OF MAN!”

On May 14, 1948 the prophetic clock began ticking! With the Declaration of Independence by the Jewish Agency led by David Ben-Gurion and the resultant naming of Israel as a nation, the return of Christ for His Millennial reign with His Co-Sovereign Eternal Bride was made imminent; so imminent that Jesus has been standing ready RIGHT AT THE DOOR ever since. Remember that with the Lord a THOUSAND YEARS is as a DAY (2 Pet. 3:8)! Read the rest of this entry »

Egotism and Narcissism in Ministry

Dr. Joseph Mattera

Over time in the ministry you have opportunities to meet and know people in various forms of ministry and ancillary fields of endeavor such as Christian entertainment of various levels of notoriety. My beginnings in the ministry afforded me perhaps more opportunities than most in that regard. One of the observations I was forced to make early on in my experience as a Born Again Christian is that no matter how spiritual and humble those of this ilk I met or became acquainted with were, they all had an ego, some larger than others, but they all had an ego. In the first couple of years of my Christian walk (though I now know how silly that was), I was troubled about that, to the point of being somewhat disillusioned and distracted, especially in the case of those who were famous or well-known.

As much as those who are earnestly attempting to emulate the life and nature of Christ endeavor to die to themselves and become of “no reputation” as Jesus did, I think we all pretty much are always going to be saddled with the bane, if you will, that when we get right down to it, we all have an ego. Though I’ve thought about it many times, I really still do not know how to reconcile some things about that. Does having an ego mean that we haven’t died to ourselves yet? Does having an ego mean we have not made ourselves of no reputation as Jesus did? Does God not want us to have an ego at all?

I really don’t know the answer to any of those questions. I’m not even sure any of us mere mortals will ever know the answer to those questions, definitively, as long as we are in these mortal bodies. Basically, I chalk it up to being way beyond my pay grade, and end up dropping it. Read the rest of this entry »

Disarmament or Discernment?

Dr. Steven Lambert

Cajoling the foe to disarm, thereby rendering him defenseless against his diabolic deceptions and dastardly designs of captivation, has been the ploy of the enemy for time immemorial, whether in the sociological systems of the world or the polity of the Church.

Relative to the latter, Satan’s obsession is to disarm believers of the “weapons of our warfare” we’ve been issued by God. With the former, the doctrines of Marxism are replete with demonically inspired dogmas and idioms aimed at pacification of the masses to pave the way for totalitarian hegemony of submissive peoples achieved solely through ideological indoctrination and the total avoidance of militaristic resistance. Use sophisticated mind control tactics to disorient and disable your target is the underlying methodology of fascist guerrilla warfare.

It’s a mind game, and no one is more skilled at conjuring and effectively utilizing it than the Serpent of old, the craftiest of all the beasts of the field God had made (Gen. 3:1). Psychological enslavement is his game and total dominion of the Creation is his aim! “But woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in fierce anger (fury), because he knows that he has [only] a short time [left]! (Rev. 12:12b; AB) Read the rest of this entry »

Paying The Price

Mystery of the Kingdom, By Dr. Steven Lambert

The following is an excerpt of my book, The Mystery of the Kingdom, which is an exposition of what Jesus indicated was The Paramount Parable—The Parable of the Sower—meaning it was the most important of all His parables. It is The Paramount Parable because it reveals the keys to the “mystery of the kingdom” of God. This excerpt is of a chapter in which I examine the second category of hearers in the parable, who Jesus described as being “like rocky ground.” He went on to reveal that this category of hearers of the Word are only “temporary believers,” who “have no firm root in themselves, but are only temporary” (Mk. 4:17).

Luke’s account of this part of Jesus’ parable aptly describes their walk this way: “they believe for a while, and in time of temptation fall away” (Lk. 8:13). This is an extremely crucial statement in that Jesus Himself explicitly and definitively indicates that these people were indeed bona fide “believers” rather than bogus believers as proponents of “once saved always saved” Eternal Security doctrine allege. Jesus said, “they believe for a while,” which inherently means there came a time when they ceased being and living like a true believer, or saint. To argue otherwise is to call Jesus a liar. Likewise, to say these once bona fide believers did not subsequently fall away after having truly believed is to call Jesus a liar as well, for Jesus explicitly stated, “and in time of temptation (they) fall away.”

Unfortunately, there are many people today who are of this category of only temporary believers. There was a point at which they truly believed in and accepted the Gospel of Christ, and were thereby Born Again and saved. At first, they are willing to follow Jesus and obey His Word. But, later, when they began to meet with temptation (Lk. 8:13), afflictions, and persecutions (Mk. 4:17), these temporary believers fall away in their relationship with God.

Fast From Judging

Isaiah 58:6-12 (New American Standard Bible)
6″Is this not the fast which I choose,
To loosen the bonds of wickedness,
To undo the bands of the yoke,
And to let the oppressed go free
And break every yoke?
7″Is it not to divide your bread with the hungry
And bring the homeless poor into the house;
When you see the naked, to cover him;
And not to hide yourself from your own flesh?
8″Then your light will break out like the dawn,
And your recovery will speedily spring forth;
And your righteousness will go before you;
The glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.
9″Then you will call, and the LORD will answer;
You will cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am ‘
If you remove the yoke from your midst,
The pointing of the finger and speaking wickedness
,
10And if you give yourself to the hungry
And satisfy the desire of the afflicted,
Then your light will rise in darkness
And your gloom will become like midday.
11″And the LORD will continually guide you,
And satisfy your desire in scorched places,
And give strength to your bones;
And you will be like a watered garden,
And like a spring of water whose waters do not fail.
12″Those from among you will rebuild the ancient ruins;
You will raise up the age-old foundations;
And you will be called the repairer of the breach,
The restorer of the streets in which to dwell.

If you have ever gone on an extended fast, you know it can be a life changing experience. There are many types of fasts. The king of Nineveh along with the people of his nation fasted three days from food and water. God heard the sincerity in their repentance and spared their nation, making them an example of the power inherent in fasting and prayer (see Luke 11:32). Read the rest of this entry »

Prophets–God’s Change Agents

Dr. Steven Lambert

Here this and hear it well, America! God’s anointed and appointed prophets, not politicians, are and have always been God’s change agents whose divinely inspired announcements and pronouncements are what bring change on earth and in the affairs of men! God’s prophets are His Watchmen and Warriors operating in the unseen Spirit realm, where all things are upheld by the Word of His power, who by their unveiling and revealing, decreeing and declaring, of the Secret Counsel of God establishes and sets into motion all that God is doing and establishing upon the earth at any given moment and season in time! “Change” is their middle name and “new things” is their game!

This article is Part 2 of a series regarding the “new things” God is decreeing for the days ahead. I believe the topic of this series is both prophetic and timely, in that God is right now decreeing and effecting major and in some cases paradigmic changes both in the world and the church, and causing particular events to transpire that have never happened before; i.e., “new things.” God is “suddenly” releasing and launching much that has been held in abeyance for many years. He is also bringing a sudden end to much that has been for many years as well. Read the rest of this entry »
